Book Review: ABAKAN 2301 : Kallamity's World of Mecha Design Part Two
Abakan 2301 is the sequel to Abakan 2288 which was published in 2012. The story continues with Weingart Lieutenant Richard Mertzbow as he continues to make sense of the dystopia world he's in.
Highlight of this book of course are the mecha designs. The first half of this 172-page paperback book features illustrations while the second half features the physical mecha models.
Luca Zampriolo, aka Kallamity, is know for his intricate mecha designs. The attention to detail is amazing. The designs for the mecha look fantastic, and the finished model, with the paint with elements of wear and tear are just amazing.
There are plenty of photos and close-ups showing the process of making the models. All the parts are laid out and then assembled. There isn't much commentary though so this book really is more like a portfolio of mecha designs.
It's a terrific book for anyone who loves mecha.
