Book Review: The Art of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
The art is this book is very beautiful. I really enjoy the visuals from How to Train Your Dragon. It's a perfect blend of art and technology. I love the caricature designs that really push looks of the characters, dragons, sets and environment.
This 178-hardcover published by Dark Horse is the concept artbook for the third film in the How to Train Your Dragon series. It's authored by Linda Sunshine which is a good thing because her books are always packed with insightful commentary and interviews. This book is no different in that aspect.
The main characters are all given a makeover and you can see all the different costumes and iterations. The concepts for new dragons look lovely. And the environment artworks are gorgeous. Even though this book is already filled with plenty of art, I still find myself wanting to see more because the art is so good. Looking at the art transports me, figuratively speaking, to another world.
I highly recommend this book. And this should be one of 2019's better artbooks.
