Book Review: Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting in Procreate: How to Create Art on an iPad

Procreate is an amazing drawing app that has been out on the iPad for years. It's surprises me that there hasn't been any tutorial book that covers Procreate until now.

Beginner's Guide to Digital Painting in Procreate is a 216-page paperback that's filled with detailed step-by-step tutorials on digital painting with Procreate. No prior knowledge with Procreate is needed since this book is for beginners.

The book starts off with the basics of the software such as the user interface, tools, menus, palettes and functionality. Basically you'll get to learn what Procreate is capable of.

The highlight of the book are the eight full-length digital painting tutorials contributed by these eight artists:

The good thing about the tutorials are the subjects are quite varied, so you get to explore Procreate's functionality as much as possible. And you can also study the process and approach of each artist. Procreate has a lot of features and I'm constantly discovering new ways to do things. So this is a fantastic book that can get you up to speed with various digital painting techniques possible with Procreate.

Most of the tutorials also come with time-lapse videos you can watch online. There are also other resources you can download, such as line art and even custom Procreate brushes.

This is an insightful book for those who want to learn the ins and outs of Procreate and get serious with it. Highly recommended.
