Book Review: Drizzle: A Collection of Drawings by Moon
Drizzle is a collection of drawings made with 0.5mm gel pens in two small notebooks by French illustrator Moon.
The publication of this artbook is made possible thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign that ended in February 2023 and has been published by Editions Caurette.
Below are some photos of the original sketchbooks.
Most of the drawings have already been published online but having this artbook is a convenient way to get them together.
The artbook has the same dimensions as the original sketchbooks and the drawings are reproduced as almost similar sizes. Corners are rounded off and the paper is low gloss.
Hatching and cross hatching techniques were used to created the beautiful, vibrant and detailed illustrations. The title of this book was inspired by the lines that look like rain drops falling from the sky.
This book is not only inspiring, but you can also study the line art and colour mixing techniques for pen and ink illustrations. The artworks are a mix of characters and imaginative imagery. Every page is a delight.
The only downside to this book is it cannot open completely flat like the original sketchbooks.
Those who love sketchbooks will love this book. The price is €25 and is available from the publisher online store.
