Book Review: Everyday Sketching and Drawing: Five Steps to a Unique and Personal Sketchbook Habit
Steven Reddy's personal sketchbooks and Craftsy courses have been featured on my blog before and they were pretty good. Everyday Sketching and Drawing seems like the first instructional book from him.
This 192-page paperback published by Monacelli Studio is a collection of personal stories and sketching tutorials from this prolific artist who has been drawing since he was a kid.
The book is packed with beautiful and detailed sketches drawn from all over the world. Steven Reddy draws everything he can and all of them are drawn on location. I enjoyed reading the captions he has for each sketch. It gives the sketches context and their own stories.
The tutorials included are designed for beginners and they become progressively more challenging as they build on the concepts being taught earlier. They are accessible and easy to follow along even if you have no knowledge of drawing. And upon completion I'm sure you'll feel a sense of achievement.
This is a wonderful instructional book that's worth referring to often for inspiration. Highly recommended. It's a great addition to my ever growing collection of sketchbooks.
