Book Review: Spy Games by Jean-David Morvan & Kim Jung Gi

I just received a comic book titled Spy Games sent to me by Kim Jung Gi's assistant.

Spy Games (《间谍游戏》) is a collaboration between writer Jean-David Morvan and Kim Jung Gi. The comic book was released in French but the one I have is translated into traditional Chinese.

Unfortunately, I can't read traditional Chinese that well so I can't really talk much about the story except to say that it's about spies and espionage. The story is set in Hong Kong and ambassadors from different countries have got together to participate in some sinister event. There may have been a bit about conspiracy behind war programmes.

The art drawn by Kim Jung Gi is impressive of course. His drawing skills are legendary. Do a search on Youtube and you'll be able to see the videos of him drawing amazing wide perspective scenes.

The art in this comic is a bit different. You can still tell it's his style from the interesting perspective and details. However, the paneling seems pretty straightforward. Colours used are pretty toned down and considered as "muddy" by some comments from Muddy Colors blog. Even the blacks are not the dark blacks.
