Book Review: 素描高级课程教学范本 (Advanced Drawing Course Templates)

素描高级课程教学范本 (Advanced Drawing Course Templates) - 01

Like the other book 人体结构素描 (Human Anatomy Sketches), this is also from Russia Repin Institute of Arts.

If I translated the title correctly, 素描高级课程教学范本 means Advanced Drawing Course Templates.

This is 116 pages, paperback and almost A3 in size. It's a Chinese edition but there's not much text.

The sketches are huge and of selected parts of the body. There aren't a lot on bones. Most are on muscles, hands and feet. Also included are several pages of life drawing examples. The art shows amazing finesse.

Title in Russian says just the following: Academic Drawings of the Repin Institute of Arts. Not sure about the 'sketches' though. Sketches are considered short-time drawings in Russian academic tradition, but many of the drawings presented in the book are 20 (and more) hour drawings.

Yeah. I translated too literally from the Chinese text. Perhaps it is more appropriate to refer them as 'drawings'.
