Book Review: The Art of Simz

Simone “Simz” Ferriero is an Italian artist who creates modern day fantasy illustrations with a coxy feel. Think witches going about doing their household chores and spectral cats are running around.

The artworks are beautiful and there are several tutorials showing the creative process on creating them. There's plenty of commentary included that shares tips, techniques and career advices. The book's a large format 152-page hardcover.

The only downside to the book is regarding the gallery pages that takes up half the book. For every two pages, the same art is used, one smaller and one larger at maybe 1.5 to 2 times the size. The smaller artwork already looks big so the zoomed in version is kinda unnecessary and feels like page fillers instead as a result. Despite that, it's still a pretty good artbook.

You can find more art from Simz on Twitter and Facebook.
