Book Review: Sketching from the Imagination: Anime & Manga
This is the 7th book in the Sketching from the Imagination series. It's always a joy and very inspiring to look the beautiful sketches featured.
This volume features anime and manga sketches. Within anime and manga, there are lots of different styles too which you can see in this book. We are talking about more than just big-eyed Gurren Lagann or Evangelion style. The art in this book are on characters.
The book is packed with sketches. There are pencils, inks and some coloured drawings. It's really cool to see all the sketches because, at least for me, they make me want to pick up a pen and sketch as well. That's one thing I like about these series of book.
Each artist featured also has a short profile on their career, inspiration, tools they use and they also share tips and drawing techniques. This paperback has 320 pages so there's plenty to read. It's a wonderful sketchbook that I'm sure you will find yourself picking up often just to browse and get inspired.
Most highly recommended.
And do check out the earlier volumes. They are all worth the money.
