Book Review: Twisted Mind of 1000 Tentacles

Twisted Mind of 1000 Tentacles is the creation of Leong Wan Kok and pH Khor. And 1000tentacles is actually an art studio based in Malaysia.
This collection features comics, illustration, sculpture and 3D work.
The style is unique, unconventional. The pages are populated with weird and colourful characters and creatures of all sorts, living in a strange dystopian world. It's unlike anything I've ever seen and hard to describe. The comic is a tale on urbanization, with a trip to the underworld, where grotesque creatures are trying to protect their land. Then there are lots of creature designs, and even 4 pages of stickers of them.
Like Guy de Maupassant, 1000 Tentacles' vibrant hallucinatory images and phantasmagorical tales are often rendered far more terrifying for being grounded in daily reality. Waking up inside Wan Kok's imagination would be a very scary thing indeed. - Sam Layon Jones, Tokyoplastic
