Book Review: Looney Tunes Treasury

Looney Tunes Treasury - 01

This book is a great tribute to the some of the most classic animation characters ever created - the Looney Tunes gang - from Bugs Bunny to Marvin the Martian. It brings back good memories of watching these cartoons back in the past. Although I can't remember exact stories, I still can remember the crazy antics of the characters.

The author Andrew Farago, curator of the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, has done a great job in putting this treasury together.

The book is filled with art, animation stills, and funny autobiographies written by the Looney Tunes characters themselves. You can read in their own words about their rise to fame, the jealousy among cartoon co-characters, and other hilarious jokes. I still get a chuckle out of seeing Tweety in Sylvester's sandwich, knowing seconds later Tweety would somehow escape.

Also included are some mementos like postcards, sticker book, Porky Pig mini-comic, a Tasmanian Devil mask and other cool stuff.

This book is a blast from the past. Recommended for fans of classic animation.

Love your blog parka. buuut, these past 10 books that you've featured have been kind of disappointing TBH. Sorry to be blunt. I just want to see some more cool stuff come back.

I totally disagree with 'anonymous' above me, this Looney Tunes book looks brilliant! What's disappointing about it?

I've been hoping they would release a decent Looney Tunes art book for a long time, as all the good ones from the past are OOP, and now there only seems to be annuals or kids books. I'll definitely be buying this, thanks for letting us know about it, Parka!

Different titles appeal to different people. The ones I like might not have the same effect to other readers, vice versa.

On this blog, I not only feature books that are good, but also books that aren't so good. Readers can then make informed choices when making purchases.

yes i admit i agree with the first comment above, but then i guess there aren't any new brilliant books coming out at the moment. your blog, however, is still great for references and such. :)

on the other hand, this post is top-notch as i have been a long time fan of looney tunes. i own hanna barbera treasury book so i am sure this one will be captivating.
