Book Preview: Alien Race: Visual Development of an Intergalactic Adventure

Alien Race: Visual Development of an Intergalactic Adventure

Here's an amazing book that I found at Design Studio Press booth #1701. Basically it's filled with concept art, sketches and fully illustrated. It's coming soon but I've no exact date.

Yes, if you're at San Diego Comic Con 2009 now, drop by their booth. There are lots of great art books! If you don't want to carry it, just grab it online!

Product description:

The alien bio-lab has appeared at the United Nations building in New York City. We, the human race, have been invited to compete in the most popular Alien Race in the universe. As they develop the visuals for the great competition, let this gifted team of concept designers carry you away with their brilliant imagination, transport you to unique off-world racing environments and introduce you to never-before-seen genetically engineered racing creatures. Created from the best D.N.A. available in the universe, each racing animal will amaze you more than the last and each treacherous environment will seem like a walk in the park compared to the next one.

All images are from www.designstudiopress.com. Below are just some screenshots of the book. I'll be posting a more in depth review when I get my hands on one.

This one is a Must Have!!
When will it come out?! Any info?

The book iIncluded are hundreds of photos and captions detailing how scenes in the movie were shot, such as what's used on location. This book is like a production diary explaining the things that happen during shooting. The second half of the book is more interesting. There are sketches, photos and miniatures showing how the creatures and weapons in the movie were made. The photos are high resolution and zoomed in close to show subtle details. There are captions all along, same goes for every page of the book. It's an incredibly in depth look behind the scenes
