The Human Machine

The Human Machine looks at each part of the human body, explaining the skeleton, muscles in their form and function. Occasionally, George B. Bridgman will include simplified pulley analogy to help describe the working mechanisms of the joints. The writeup is straightforward and clear.

The downside is the low quality reproduction of the sketchy illustrated examples. There a few sketches where I struggle to find out what I'm looking at because the form is not immediately obvious. This might cause confusion for the beginner artists.

There are no instruction on how to pose your figures in this book. It's more of a parts by parts reference guide.

This book is recommended for intermediate artists who already have some knowledge on anatomy.
