Book Review: BATTLE MiLK 2: Tangents and Transitions in Concept Art
I didn't know that BATTLE MiLK had an earlier volume, which by now is quite impossible to find. But volume 2 is here, and it's very good, so grab it while you can.
It's a collection of fantasy and sci-fi concept art from six artists, namely Wayne Lo, David Le Merrer, Thang Le, Kilian Plunkett, Le Tang and Jackson Sze.
The art is very beautiful, with a variety of subjects from the imagination, ranging from character designs, to space stations, to background paintings. The quality is really high -- well, these guys work on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I particularly like Jackson Sze's, who brings his influence from Tibet and fantasy elements together to create a beautiful and convincing world.
Each illustration or sketch also comes with commentary. Additionally, each artist also goes through their creative process step by step, from creation to execution.
It's an inspiring concept art book. Highly recommended.
Hopefully, there will be volume 3.
