Review: AOHI Starship 240W 27,600mAh Power Bank
Review sample provided by AOHI
AOHI has just released the AOHI Starship 240W 27,760 mAH power bank. This product is the result of a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that ended in December 2024 with 1519 backers.
Price at the time of review is USD 139.
This power bank is actually the smaller brother of the 140W 40K mAh Starship power bank that was also crowdfunded. The company had also sent me a review sample for that and I still have that around as I needed a powerful laptop charger with huge battery capacity.
Bottom line
This power bank is bulky and weighs 650g. The few key selling points are the 240W total output, 140W single output and input, 27600 mAh battery capacity (rated 16560 mAh 5V=3A) and the ability to be charged while charging other devices.
This new design is flight-compliant since it's 99Wh.
The main use case of this power bank is for charging laptops, and for charging multiple devices. For charging phones or tablets, you can go with smaller power banks which are more portable. Battery capacity is large enough for charging a 16-inch Macbook Pro once, or a phone 3-4 times.
There's only one downside. The unit may overheat when it's charging and being charged but that's not surprising or unexpected since the battery is doing a lot of work. There is overheating protection though so the unit will stop charging itself when there's overheating.

Presentation of the box looks good.
Design
Here's the size compared to a 6.1-inch phone and a portable MagSafe 5,000 mAh power bank.
Weight of the power bank is 650g which is noticeably heavier compared to phone power banks. It is heavy because of the huge battery capacity you get in exchange.
Whether your laptop can use the power bank as a laptop stand will depend on your laptop design. I do use this as a laptop stand for my laptop.
The length is actually similar to the AOHI Starship 140W 40K mAh.
But the 240W power bank is physically small. Ports available are two USB-C that can charge at 140W each, and a USB-A that can charge at 22.5W. Total combined output is 240W.
Power distribution will depend on the number of ports in use, as shown in the graphics below:
And shown below is the power specification:
There's no port on the back of the smaller power bank, but an additional USB-C port on the 40,000 mAh power bank.
This power bank works great as a laptop charger since it can deliver up to 140W in a single USB-C which is great for charging gaming laptops. When two USB-C ports are used, you can get 100W output each, which is still very high for charging laptops.
There are laptops that require minimal wattage for charging and hence can't work with all power banks, e.g. phone power banks. So if you thinking of buying a laptop charger, this AOHI Starship is definitely one to consider.
Having two USB-C ports and one USB-A port is sufficient.
The display shows useful information such as the battery life left, and the charging speed (input and output) for each port. When there's overheating, the display will flash 0W which means it's not charging.
Display is not that bright so it not that legible under sunlight or outdoors.
Maximum charging speed can only be achieve with the included 140W cable and when meeting certain criteria, e.g. laptop must support high speed charging, or power source can provide 140W charging to the power bank.
One key feature is the power bank can be charged while it's charging other devices. If you charge the power bank, that means you're left with only one USB-C and one USB-A to charge other devices.
This is a pretty straightforward product to review. It looks good and works well. I don't have many bad things to say about it.
