Review: Kuxiu X37 mic stand with clamp

The Kuxiu X37 is a desktop mic stand that also comes with a clamp. Price at the time of review is USD 49.

Kuxiu, in case you don't know, also makes really good iPad stands, and I have reviewed several in the past.

Bottom line: It's a beautiful mic stand with excellent build quality. Just make sure you have the table space for it, and your mic holder is compatible with the included adapters. I wish the arm can be longer.

Design

The base can open to an X that measures around 22 x 22cm (8.5 inch). Beneath the base are four rubber feet with good grip on the table.

Shown above are the 3/8" washer and the 3/8" to 5/8" adapter.

The connector at the end of the stand can be removed too. The screw thread looks like those 1/4" tripod standard but it is off slightly, unfortunately.

The company mentioned compatibility with Blue Yeti, Shure SM7B/MV7, HyperX QuadCast, and the Audio-Technica AT2020 series.

My decade-old Audio Technica AT2020 does not have a mic holder that works with the included adapters. Probably because I lost the mic holder? So I had to use a NEEWER Magic Clamp to hold the mic and attach that to the mic stand.

You can also choose to clamp the mic stand. Just make sure you have a table that can be clamped at the side or back.

The clamp can work with a table that's 2-inch or 5cm thick.

The arm isn't that long so you clamp at the back of a big table, the mic may not extend far enough to reach your mouth. Even with the small table shown in the photo above, 50cm front to back, I had to lean forward to reach the mic.

If you want to clamp, perhaps it's better to clamp from the side of the table.

Or just use the base and you can position it wherever you like.

Or buy some extension rod for the mic stand, maybe a 3/8" female to 3/8" female extension rod.
