Book Review: The New Creative Artist (25th Anniversary Edition)
This book by Nita Leland was originally released in 1990 under the name The Creative Artist. A revised and updated edition was later released in 2006. And now, we have the latest 25th anniversary edition in paperback and ebook format (Kindle).
I had the 2006 edition and that was in spiral bound format. The content in that book is similar to this new edition. I sort of prefer the paperback version over the spiral bound.
This is a book for those who want to be more creative, to have fun while making art and to get inspired. The book is filled with lots of ideas, art theory and hands-on exercises. There are many simple projects you can follow along to learn the different techniques. While the book has already been out for 25 years, the content is still fresh and relevant today.
This is one of my favourite artbooks because it's packed with interesting content, ideas and beautiful examples. It's a great reference that's worth revisiting often. Great for those who have artist block, those who can't think of anything to draw.
This is a fantastic book that I can easily recommend to anyone. Highly recommended.
